3 Ways Businesses Can Be More Sustainable

Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming an increasingly important aspect within all businesses. Choosing to “go green” and holding campaigns to spread awareness about sustainability is what grants businesses bonus points amongst the consumers. Not only does it help the environment- it establishes you as a brand that cares about the environment and community, thereby refining your brand image. And, lets be real- brand image is super important. It is pretty much what distinguishes you from your competitor.

#1 Going Paperless

Imagine how many trees don’t have to be cut if businesses can forego using paper and adopt a cloud-based filing approach to save all their information and data. Up to 50% of business waste is paper waste; hence, businesses will be able to lower their impact on local landfills by converting to a paperless office. Since we are talking about it in business terms- it reduces costs! An average worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper annually- going paperless would help reduce the cost of buying tons of paper for office work.

#2 Letting Employees Work from Home

Another way a business could lower its carbon footprint is by encouraging remote working. A reduction in the usage of electricity, reduction in pollution (no commute) and fewer office supplies used leading to a reduction in office waste.

#3 Recycle, Recycle, Recycle

It’s inevitable for companies to produce tons of waste and to continue doing so. However, it is possible for companies to reduce the amount of waste they produce by recycling most of it. Not all of it has to go to landfills, right? As much as 60% of the rubbish that businesses send to landfills can be recycled; and it does cost a lot of money. Most businesses just keep a little rubbish bin on their floor but it is wise to adopt a waste bin of categories “Plastic, Paper, Glass” for recycling.
